Outdoor weddings can be absolutely beautiful. The fresh air and sunshine make a perfect backdrop as you exchange your vows. When you are planning to be married outside, there are some things that you can do to make your ceremony just as lovely as it can be.

When a wedding takes place in a church, the layout for the service is predetermined. You already have an aisle, an altar, and seating in place. For an outdoor wedding, this is generally not the case. It is up to you to decide how you would like to set the stage for your service.

One of the most important things to do is to create a focal point for your ceremony. There should be something special that defines the spot where the bride and groom stand during the service. This can be many things. If you are getting married in a field, you could stand under a magnificent old oak tree. In a garden, a flower bedecked arbor would be beautiful. For Jewish ceremonies, you will of course have a Chuppah. You may even want to create a small platform so that the bride and groom will be slightly elevated, giving the guests a better view of the proceedings.

Once you have decided on your focal point, you can think about creating an aisle. The chairs that you bring in will usually be used to define the center walkway leading up to the altar. You can make the aisle more beautiful by lining it with decorative elements. Flower petals can be strewn along the path that the bride will take to meet her groom (in which case, have guests be seated via a side aisle to avoid treading on the bride's bed of roses!). You can also decorate the sides of the chairs with flowers, or line the path with hurricane candles.

The type of seating that you choose can also help to set the stage. If you are having a rustic autumn wedding, use haybales instead of standard chairs. Wicker chairs would be great by the ocean, whereas the classic white chivari chair would be dainty and pretty in a botanical garden.

The decorations that you choose for an outdoor wedding ceremony should feel connected to the location, just as they are to the personal style of the bride and groom. For example, let's say that you are planning an oceanside wedding. The bride would look radiant in a flowing chiffon gown with handcrafted bridal jewelry. In keeping with the natural beauty of the ocean, keshi pearls would be a wonderful choice for a gem to use for creating handcrafted bridal jewelry.

The décor for the ceremony should also feel at home in the site, so by the ocean, you could decorate your arbor or Chuppah with flowers intertwined with natural sea grass, shells, and starfish. Simple white candles can be placed into galvanized tin pails to light the altar area.

For a wedding in a garden, you could focus on using the types of flowers and greenery that are already growing by your ceremony site. It may sound obvious, but it will really do a lot to integrate your wedding with the natural setting that you have chosen. In addition, you will be highlighting the beauty that drew you to that spot in the first place. With these design tips in mind, you will be able to create the perfect place to exchange your vows.
